This fine jug was probably designed and decorated by Charles Collard, when he worked for the Aller Vale Art pottery in the 1890s. The owner of Aller Vale was innovative and arranged exhibitions in the Newton Abbot College of Art, which included Italian faience examples, which was the inspiation for the design of this piece. Charles Collard was not only a designer, but an entrepreneur as well, taking over the Dorset pottery in the early 1900s, and then Honiton, when the 1st World War ended. No restoration, chips or cracks.
