Claude Kitto's studio was in Wembury, not far from Sutton Harbour, where he painted a Navy Frigate - destined for the Breaker's Yard - on Marrow Bones slip. He painted mainly landscapes, so Marine paintings are not so common. His loose brushwork is most effective, reminsiscent of late 19th century "en plein air" painters. Claude Kitto died in 2004.
