| Navaho Nasha£249.00 inc. VAT The "Nasha" is a traditional Navaho piece, hand crafted in silver and turquoise : the design incorporates Navaho folk lore, such as the trumpet shaped pieces, which represent the gourd flower bud - a fertility symbol - and also the large crescent shape associated with horsemanship, which came from the European Conquistadores who moved up from Panama in the 17th Century introducing horses : we have the same shape in our horse brasses. The conquistadores ironically, came with Benedictine Friars, and the hand made silver balls mimic the Rosary. This is a handsome piece, but also, it carries, the history and long standing beliefs of the Navaho, a proud and still extant nation. |
