Zuni Turquoise/silver Bear pendant

The Zuni are masters of inlay, and this Bear is expertly made by a celebrated Zuni craftsperson. The Bear represents many things such as power and wisdom, but the Zuni Bear usually is linked to their Creation story, in which the Sun God sent his 2 sons to subdue the animals which were becoming too powerful, but they used too much lightening, and set fire to everything : however, the Bear's soul survived, which is represented by the elaborate inlay. The necklace and drops are matching, but not by the same maker.
